Available from level 89. The box assigns you four tasks and, once you complete them, hands over a higher-tier one: normal, bronze, silver and gold. Only the gold one drops bars — ten of them — alongside a colour bomb pass and an hour of unlimited lives, and reaching it means chaining all four without letting any of their three-day deadlines expire. You can swap a task three times per box: discard the ones demanding new levels or spent boosters and keep the candy-collecting ones.

It drops you into a group of a hundred players sitting at exactly your level and asks you to clear eight levels in a row within twenty-four hours without losing a single life. Failing or quitting one throws you out of the challenge. The 500-bar pot is split equally among everyone in the group who makes it, so the individual prize varies wildly: if you are the only one who survives all eight, you take the lot. Go in with boosters saved up and play it when you have a solid stretch of time ahead.

On completing the first episode, the game hands over 50 bars in one go. It is one-off money and many players burn it on lives during their first week; that is the worst possible use. They are long objectives that do not repeat, but it is worth checking what you are missing to complete them before spending your balance on anything else.

All Stars is King's long tournament and it hands out bars mainly in the final rounds, once the cull has already knocked most people out; the annual champion takes 50. Gold Club rewards the top three places with bars. Neither is a source you can count on regularly, because they demand a high level of play and appear seasonally, but it is worth entering whenever they are running: taking part costs nothing and the early rounds usually leave you with boosters even if you do not make it far.

How do you get gold bars without paying in Candy Crush Saga?
