Gardenscapes runs on two resources that plenty of people confuse: Stars, which are only earned by playing and pay for the garden tasks, and Coins, which buy moves and lives. Neither one converts into the other.
What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Coins in Gardenscapes?
Coins are spent on three things: five extra moves for 900, refilling the five lives for another 900, and spinning the Lucky Wheel for 700. Stars cannot be bought in any form; every level you clear gives one and they are invested in restoration tasks. That separation explains the whole economy of the game: you can run out of coins and still push the garden forward, but without stars the restoration stops dead no matter how many coins you are sitting on.

Finish levels with moves to spare
Every level cleared hands over exactly one star, without exception, and an amount of coins that depends on how quickly you close it out: the more moves you have left at the end, the bigger the bonus. That is why it pays to close an easy level cleanly rather than force a stuck one through repeated retries. If the game runs a Star Rain promotion, that same level starts giving two stars, so it is the moment to empty out the lives you have banked.

The garden is organised into days. When you complete all the tasks in one and hit "start a new day", you receive bonus coins and the life counter goes back to five. This is where it differs from Homescapes, where closing the day refills nothing. The important detail is that the refill does not stack: if you start the new day with three lives on the counter, you lose the ones you had left over. With a team you can request lives in the chat every four hours and send them to your teammates once a day. Leave the Lucky Wheel alone when coins are tight
The Wheel costs 700 coins and returns five or fifteen moves, or else boosters that go to your inventory and cannot be used in that same round. If what you need is to close the level you are on, paying 900 for five guaranteed moves is more predictable than gambling on the wheel. And refilling the five lives for 900 almost never pays off: they regenerate on their own every half hour, and closing out the day gives you five for free.

Playrix hands out coins every time you finish restoring an area, and the characters give them to you as thanks for helping them with specific tasks. This is not income you can plan for, but it is worth walking through each newly restored area instead of jumping straight to the next match-3 level.

The long events of the Herbarium or Sweet Adventure type build a second layer of objectives on top of the normal levels and pay out by milestone: coins, boosters, stars and, above all, stretches of unlimited lives. The usual mistake is hitting an unlimited lives milestone with no time to play: the counter starts on its own, even if you never tap the claim button, and it cannot be paused.

How do you get stars in Gardenscapes without spending coins?
Stars are not for sale in any format: the only source is clearing match-3 levels, at a rate of one per level. Cascading events and Star Rain promotions can temporarily double that rate, and some event milestones include stars among their prizes. If your garden has stalled, the problem is not your coin balance: you need to play more levels.
How many coins does it cost to keep playing a failed level?
The first "keep playing" costs 900 coins and adds five moves. If the level still resists, the second option rises to 1,200 and includes a booster. Refilling the full set of lives also costs 900. Put in perspective, those 900 are equivalent to the bonus from quite a few levels closed with room to spare, so saving them for a genuinely stuck level pays far better than using them out of habit.
How do lives work and what is the cheapest way to get them back?
You have five lives at most and one is restored every half hour. The free routes are three: waiting, asking your team for lives every four hours — they stack up to fifteen in the inbox — and closing out a day in the garden, which resets the counter to five. The unlimited lives stretches from events are the best resource of all, as long as you activate them when you can play uninterrupted.
Why do you lose lives when you start a new day?
Because the new day button does not add lives, it sets the counter to five. If you press it with four lives in the bar, you are only recovering one: the other four are wasted. The routine veteran players recommend is to burn your lives playing levels and only then complete the day's last task and press the button, so you start the day with a full tank.
