How to Get the Most Free Diamonds in Hay Day

In Hay Day coins come from selling well and diamonds from mining, watching ads and completing collections. It is the most carefully built economy of the five, and the one with the most room for a free player.

What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Diamonds in Hay Day?

You start with 350 coins and 30 diamonds. Coins are the working currency: they buy animals, buildings, expansions and practically everything that makes the farm grow, and they are earned by selling. Diamonds are optional, you do not need them to progress, and their best long-term use is buying extra slots on production machines and additional crates at the roadside shop, because that benefit is permanent. Spending them to speed up production is throwing them away.

Every day

  • Several diamonds a day spread across the tickets that arrive in the mailbox

    The Movie Night ads

The mailbox delivers cinema tickets every day; using them plays a short ad and pays you diamonds. It is the steadiest free route in the game and does not depend on your level or on luck. The tickets replenish on their own, so you just need to open the mail a couple of times a day and spend them before they pile up unused. It is not much per ticket, but over a month it makes the difference between being able to afford a machine slot or not.

  • Up to 10 diamonds a day, on top of the ore

    Mining every day

The mine has a clear daily cap: ten diamonds maximum, no matter how much you keep digging. The tools β€” shovels, pickaxes, dynamite and TNT barrels β€” have different chances of turning up a diamond instead of ore, and the game hands them out through orders and boxes. It is worth heading down every day even with few tools, because the limit does not carry over: what you do not mine today is lost. The ore also feeds the smelter and the jewellery orders.

  • Loose diamonds and coins, in your neighbours' farms too

    Mystery boxes and treasure chests

Mystery boxes and treasure chests appear around the farm and sometimes contain diamonds or coins. Tool boxes open for free or for three diamonds; chests cost five. You can also tap the ones that appear on your neighbours' farms, which multiplies your daily opportunities if you visit the neighbourhood often. Down at the fishing area there are seasonal mystery gifts too, and the catalogue sells mystery packages for coins that can have diamonds inside.

  • The best per-unit price for almost any product in the game

Selling at the roadside shop at maximum price

The roadside shop lets you set the price anywhere between one coin and the maximum the game allows, which is 3.6 times the default value rounded down. Barring exceptions β€” jewellery truck orders sometimes pay more β€” that maximum is the best price you are ever going to see for a product. The key is patience: set the price high, advertise the shop and let buyers come, instead of underselling just to empty the barn.

  • Regular income, with events that can double the payout

Filling truck, boat and town orders

Truck orders are the simplest income to start with, though they pay less per unit than the roadside shop. The dock is repaired from level 17 onwards and costs 14,000 coins, but from there boat orders become a reliable income, especially when there are active events that raise the rewards. The truck bonus event doubles the coins or the experience from an order, so it is worth saving the big orders for when it is running.

Every week

  • Diamonds for crossing point thresholds, with no need to win

    Competing in the neighbourhood derby

The derby is weekly and is played as a neighbourhood. Horseshoe rewards unlock on reaching certain point thresholds, and diamonds are among them. You do not need to win the derby: crossing the thresholds is enough, so an active, coordinated neighbourhood pays off more than a competitive but half-empty one. Watch out for the mode's own temptations: an extra task costs ten diamonds and reshuffling the rewards five, and neither is worth it in the long run.

One time only

  • 477 diamonds from achievements and 430 from fish species, across the whole game

Achievements, the fish collection and the style book

There are three long collections that hand out diamonds one time only. Achievements add up to 477 diamonds in total if you complete them all, and catching each new fish species adds another 430. On top of that come the styles completed in the style book and level-ups, which start paying diamonds from level 37 onwards, plus reputation level promotions. They are not daily income, but they make up the largest pool of free diamonds in the game.

What does not work

No generator can add Diamonds to your Hay Day account: the balance is handled on the game’s servers and there is no way to touch it from outside. If you arrived looking for one, we explain in detail how they work on the inside and why they always end the same way.

Frequently asked questions

How many diamonds can you get out of the mine in a day?

The limit is ten diamonds a day, regardless of how many tools you burn through. Past that cap, the mine keeps giving ore but stops dropping diamonds until the reset. Shovels, pickaxes, dynamite and TNT barrels have different chances of turning up a diamond, so save the best tools for the start of the session and head down every day: the quota does not carry over.

What should you spend your first diamonds on?

On additional slots for production machines and extra crates for the roadside shop. Those are the only two purchases whose benefit is permanent: every slot produces forever and every crate widens how much you can sell at a high price. Everything else β€” speeding up production, buying goods you are missing, crafting diamond rings, decorations β€” is a one-off benefit that does not compound over time.

How is the maximum price at the roadside shop worked out?

The game lets you raise any product up to 3.6 times its default value, rounded down. In practice that cap is the best price you will get for almost anything: only some jewellery truck orders go above it. Selling below the maximum speeds up the sale, but every coin you knock off is margin you are giving away, so it pays to advertise the shop and wait.

Why does the derby give diamonds and take them away at the same time?

It gives diamonds because horseshoe rewards unlock on accumulated point thresholds, without depending on your neighbourhood winning. And it takes them because the mode itself sells shortcuts: an extra task costs ten diamonds and reshuffling the available rewards costs five. If you stick to completing normal tasks with an active neighbourhood, the derby is a net positive source; if you buy shortcuts, it turns into a drain.
