Brawl StarsHow to Get the Most Free Gems in Brawl Stars
Gems in Brawl Stars are tightly controlled: they do not fall out of drops and they do not pile up just by playing. They arrive through specific pass tiers, trophy milestones and occasional events.
What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Gems in Brawl Stars?
Brawl Stars has two main currencies. Coins are earned in abundance and are used to level up characters. Gems are the premium currency: they pay for the Brawl Pass, skins and shop offers, and Supercell hands them out with an eyedropper. The key to a no-spend account is understanding where Gems really come from, because the game's most visible reward source, Starr Drops, includes them only rarely and in tiny amounts.
Every day
- No direct Gems: they feed the pass, which is where the Gems are.
Daily quests and pass tokens
A batch of quests renews every day and a longer one arrives every week. Completing them hands out tokens that move the Brawl Pass tiers forward, and that progress is what eventually unlocks Gems. Without this habit, the free pass track stalls halfway through in almost every season. Prioritise quests that are met with the modes you already play and drop the ones that would force you onto Brawlers you are not comfortable with.
- Pennies per survey; weeks of accumulation for a small bundle.
Google Opinion Rewards surveys
Google's official app pays in Play balance for answering short surveys, and that balance buys Gems in the game's shop on Android. The pace depends on how many surveys reach you, something that varies a lot by profile and country, so do not treat it as predictable income. Its advantage over any third-party offer is obvious: it never touches your Supercell account and it never asks for in-game details.
One time only
- Gem drops at specific milestones; claimed once per account.
Trophy Road
Trophy Road rewards your account's cumulative total with rewards placed at fixed milestones, several of which include Gems. It is one-way progression: you claim it when you cross the line and it does not repeat. For a young account it is the biggest injection available, because the early stretches are cleared quickly. On veteran accounts the pace slows dramatically, so it stops being a source worth counting on.
Events only
- Several Gem drops per season, placed in the later tiers.
The free Brawl Pass track
Every season brings a pass with two tracks, and the free one includes Gems among its rewards. The amount and where they sit changes from season to season, so it is worth checking the list at the start: if the Gems are in the higher tiers, you will have to keep up with quests to reach them. Completed regularly, this is the main support for an account that does not buy anything, and in the medium term it lets you pay for the premium pass.
- Variable rewards; some challenges include Gems among the top prizes.
Events, challenges and championships
Supercell runs temporary challenges, collaboration events and championship qualifiers with prizes tied to your number of wins. Not all of them hand out Gems, but the bigger ones usually have some balance in the final stretches, and the rest hand out Coins, Credits and skins that keep you from spending. It is worth checking the calendar at the start of the season: challenges have limited attempts and are wasted if you start them unprepared.
- Scarce and small in size; Supercell hands them out infrequently.
Official codes and collaborations
Supercell publishes occasional codes around collaborations, anniversaries and creator events, redeemable from the game itself or from its official site. They are infrequent and usually hand out cosmetics or Coins rather than Gems. The practical rule is the same as always: if the code is not announced on an official Supercell channel, it does not exist. No external site can add Gems to an account, however many counters it shows ticking upward.
What does not work
No generator can add Gems to your Brawl Stars account: the balance is handled on the gameβs servers and there is no way to touch it from outside. If you arrived looking for one, we explain in detail how they work on the inside and why they always end the same way.

How do you progress through the free Brawl Pass track?
Tiers rise with tokens, and tokens come from daily and weekly quests, not from playing scattered matches. That is why an account that logs in for ten minutes a day gets further than one that plays three hours on a Sunday. Quests expire when they renew, so anything you do not complete is lost. If you are behind at mid-season, focus only on the weeklies, which are worth more tokens.
How often do Starr Drops actually hand out Gems?
Rarely, and in very small amounts. Starr Drops are designed to accelerate character progression: Coins, Power Points, Credits, gadgets, skins and, on the rare tiers, a new Brawler or a handful of Gems. Gems are deliberately kept marginal in that table, because they are the currency that sustains the game's revenue. If they dropped freely from a resource you open several times a day, the Brawl Pass and the shop would lose their commercial purpose.
How do you save up for the Brawl Pass as a free-to-play player?
By completing the free track every season and adding whatever Trophy Road milestones you still have pending. The usual strategy is to spend nothing in the shop until you have the price of the pass, buy it, and enter a cycle: the paid pass returns enough Gems to get you close to the next one. Breaking that saving with a discounted skin usually sets the cycle back several months.
What is the difference between Coins and Gems?
Coins are the abundant currency and are used to level up characters; they drop from Starr Drops, from the pass and from almost any reward. Gems are premium and buy the pass, skins and specific offers. There is no official conversion from Coins to Gems, so stacking Coins does not bring you closer to the pass: they are separate economies and should be planned separately.
