What is the difference between coins and Madden Points?
Coins are the earnable currency: they come from games, challenges, passes and Auction House sales, and they are used to buy cards on the market and in the exchange. Madden Points are bought with real money and their main use is premium packs from the store. There is no official conversion from Points to coins, so anyone playing for free builds their roster exclusively with coins.
How do you work out what is left after selling a card?
The Auction House applies a tax on every completed sale, so you do not receive the full winning bid. When setting a price you have to mentally deduct it, especially on cheap cards, where it can eat almost the entire margin. Early on, prices are inflated because supply is low and demand is high. The sensible move is not to buy the headline stars but to patch the worst holes in your eleven with cheap cards and save the rest. As the calendar advances and promos arrive, those same positions get covered for a fraction of the price. Only spend early on what lets you complete challenges you cannot beat yet.
Why is it a bad idea to buy coins from third-party sites?
Those coins almost always come from compromised accounts or rigged Auction House transfers, something EA tracks. The usual consequences are the balance being removed, your roster lost and the account suspended, which also costs you everything you bought legitimately.
