Minion Rush juggles several currencies at once. Bananas are the progression resource: you collect them while running and they feed the Hall of Jam, which unlocks content and features. Tokens sit on the premium tier and pay for costumes, upgrades and shop items; they can be bought with money, but they are also earned in-game. Above them are G-Coins, which are obtained only by paying. The free-to-play strategy, then, comes down to squeezing every Token source.

Daily tasks are short objectives you clear by running, and they hand out Tokens, costume cards and pods. Gameloft confirms the reward can be doubled by watching a video ad when you claim it. It is the best time-to-currency ratio in the entire game, because the ad is shorter than a run and multiplies what you earned by two. Claiming without watching the video is leaving half the income on the table, so it is worth turning into a habit.

Gru's Lair includes a rewarded ad you can watch once per day that pays Tokens directly. It does not require running or clearing any prior objective: you go in, start it and get paid. Add it to the same daily opening routine you use to claim tasks and the calendar.

Tokens are earned by playing and can also be bought, whereas G-Coins are strictly paid: there is no free source for them at all. That is why all the effort of a non-spending player should go towards Tokens, and why it is worth checking which currency each shop item is priced in before saving up for it.
How much can you earn per day without spending anything?

None is large on its own, but together they keep a steady trickle going. The step up comes with tournaments and events, which is where the big amounts get paid.
What are Bananas for if they are not the premium currency?
Bananas feed the Hall of Jam, the game's main progression track. Hitting the amount each stage asks for unlocks locations, features and rewards, and some of those rewards are Tokens. In other words, running to collect Bananas does not compete with saving premium currency: it is one of the indirect ways of getting it.
What is the risk with pages offering free Tokens?
