How to Get the Most Free Rings in Sonic Forces

In Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, Red Star Rings open chests, speed up unlocks and pay for offers. The timer-based chest system and daily races hand out plenty of free currency if you know when to log in.

What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Rings in Sonic Forces?

Speed Battle is a competitive four-player racer, so its economy revolves around character cards. Gold Rings pay for levelling those cards up, while Red Star Rings are the expensive currency: they buy chests in the shop, speed up unlocks and grab one-off offers. Unlike Sonic Dash, here the bulk of the free currency arrives inside chests rather than as a direct payout.

Every day

  • Six Red Star Rings per chest, with up to two banked

    Free chest every eight hours

The shop generates a free chest every eight hours and holds a maximum of two unclaimed. Each one gives six Red Star Rings on top of cards. Because the timer stops once you have two waiting, logging in three times a day is what makes use of the full cycle; with a single daily session you are losing a batch. You do not have to race to claim them, just open the game and stop by the shop section.

  • Up to twenty chests a day, better the higher you finish

Race chests based on finishing position

Every race hands out a chest based on your final position, and the game lets you earn up to twenty a day. The first-place chest carries the most cards and the fourth-place one the least, so winning matters. Every now and then the victory chest comes out at a higher rarity, and those are the ones that can include Red Star Rings. It is the source that depends most on your skill, but also the one that moves the most volume if you play daily.

Every week

  • One-off rewards each time you cross a trophy threshold

    Climbing Tiers

Competitive progress is measured in trophies, and crossing Tier thresholds unlocks rewards and new content, as well as improving what later chests hand out. Since trophies go up and down with your results, this income advances in bursts: a few good streaks push you to the next step and that is when you get paid. It pays to concentrate your sessions when you are close to a threshold rather than running loose races with no direction.

One time only

  • Fixed payouts of Rings and Red Star Rings, plus a golden chest per stage

    Progression stages

The game splits its progression into stages, each with a handful of predefined missions. Completing them hands out direct rewards that include Gold Rings and Red Star Rings, and closing out the whole stage unlocks a golden chest. It is single-pass content, so it makes for a solid early cushion and then runs dry. If you have just installed the game, check what the active stage asks for before you enter a race: many missions clear themselves by using a specific character.

Events only

  • One chest at the end of the month, bigger the higher your Tier

    Monthly season chest

Seasons last a month and are activated by finishing first at least three times during that period. When it ends, the game hands out a chest whose contents scale with the Tier you finished in. It is income that does not require playing every day, only making sure you meet the entry requirement early and climb as high as possible before the cutoff. Leaving it to the last few days is the usual mistake, because the wins you need do not always arrive when you want them.

  • The most generous batches, packed into a few days

    Limited-time events

SEGA Hardlight runs events with their own rules, guest characters and separate reward tables. They tend to be the fastest route to hard-to-get cards and currency, because the objectives are designed to have you play several sessions back to back inside the window. The calendar is not fixed, so it is worth checking the main menu notice when you log in. If you are saving Red Star Rings for something, save them for the offers that show up during these periods.

What does not work

No generator can add Rings to your Sonic Forces account: the balance is handled on the game’s servers and there is no way to touch it from outside. If you arrived looking for one, we explain in detail how they work on the inside and why they always end the same way.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make the most of the shop's free chest?

The chest reappears every eight hours and only two can be stored unclaimed. If you log in once a day, the timer stalls and you lose cycles. Splitting it into three short visits, say morning, afternoon and night, collects all three batches in full. Each chest includes six Red Star Rings, so the difference between one and three visits is noticeable by the end of the month.

How much Gold does it take to level up a character?

The cost rises with each level and with the rarity of the card, and the level cap has been raised over successive updates. The practical move is to pour your Gold into two or three characters you actually use rather than spreading it around. One well-levelled character does more in races than half a roster stuck halfway, and winning races is what feeds the chests.

What is the difference between race chests and shop chests?

Race chests come from playing, depend on your finishing position and cap out at twenty a day; they mostly hand out character cards. Shop chests run on a timer and are the fixed source of Red Star Rings. The two systems are independent, so a complete routine means claiming the timed ones and also racing to burn through your position chests.

Why is downloading modified versions of the game a bad idea?

Speed Battle is an online game with server-side progress, so an altered APK cannot change your real balance: it only changes what you see. What can happen is that you lose the account for breaching SEGA's terms, or that you install software with abusive permissions. The internal sources, chests and events, are the only ones that genuinely add up.
