How to Get the Most Free Favor in SMITE
SMITE changed skin with SMITE 2 and its economy was rewritten from scratch. Gems are still the payment currency, but access to the gods no longer depends on saving Favor.
What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Favor in SMITE?
Anyone returning to SMITE after a few years finds a different layout. In the original game, Favor was the earnable currency that bought gods and Gems covered skins and passes. In SMITE 2 that scheme disappeared: gods are opened with tokens granted by each account level, there is a free weekly rotation, and Diamonds show up as the progression currency. On top of that, anyone who played the first game carries Legacy Gems that cover half the cost of almost any purchase. Working out which version you are playing is the first step.
Every day
- A daily trickle of the progression currency
Diamonds from daily login
Diamonds are claimed simply by logging in and collecting them, and they also accumulate as you raise mastery with the gods you play. It is the earnable currency closest to classic Favor, though its role leans more toward cosmetics and specific unlocks. Since it depends on logging in rather than on winning matches, the only requirement is consistency. Combining it with mastery makes sense: focusing on three or four gods concentrates progress instead of spreading it across a roster you have not learned.
Every week
- One token per level, up to level 50
God Tokens from account levels
Unlocking gods in SMITE 2 does not run through saving currency: every account level you climb hands over a token redeemable for any god in the game, except the newest arrival from the latest update. It is a far more direct system than the original game's Favor, because there are no different prices by age: they all cost the same, one token. The practical consequence is that the roster opens simply by playing, and spending your first tokens on the rotation gods you enjoyed avoids regrets.
- Temporary access to a group of gods at no cost
Free weekly god rotation
Every player has the rotating god group available, and it changes each week. It serves two purposes: covering role gaps when it falls to you to fill out a composition and, above all, trying before committing a token. Using it deliberately instead of always playing the same character is what separates those who end up with a useful roster from those who spend tokens blind. Note which gods worked for you during the week and redeem the token when the rotation takes them away.
One time only
- One Legacy Gem for every Gem spent in the original game
Link your original SMITE account
Anyone who played the original SMITE has the biggest pot of value available here. On linking the accounts, every Gem spent in the first game, purchased or earned, becomes a Legacy Gem in SMITE 2. These cover half the price of almost any purchase: skins, passes, events. They also unlock gods outright. It is a one-off, cost-free procedure, so you do not even need to have been a big spender for the maths to work out.
- Specific items tied to dates on the competitive calendar
Event codes and competitive match drops
Hi-Rez pairs its tournaments and updates with redeemable codes and drop campaigns handing out free cosmetics. Redemption happens inside the client, in the account section, and drops require linking your account to the broadcast platform. It is not a source to plan around, but it piles up items at zero cost for anyone following the scene. No external site can give you currency: any page promising Gems in exchange for your credentials is an account theft attempt.
Events only
- Skins, emotes and bonus worshippers for the god you choose
Ascension Passes with earned tokens
Ascension Passes are opened with their own tokens, which arrive as progression rewards and apply to whichever god you pick. From there, raising mastery with that character gradually releases skins, emotes and bonuses. It is a format designed to reward specialisation rather than dabbling: it pays enormously if you have a main god and almost nothing if you switch every match. Before spending a pass token, check that the god will still be your pick over the coming weeks.
- Rewards spread across tiers, with no need to buy the premium track
Free track of the battle pass
SMITE 2 passes have a free track and a premium track sharing the same progress bar: you play once and advance on both, though you only collect the premium tiers if you buy the pass. That means progression is never wasted, and that if you decide to buy halfway through the season you immediately receive everything banked. For a free player the reading is simple: keep playing and climbing tiers, because the work is stored even if you never pay.
What does not work
No generator can add Favor to your SMITE account: the balance is handled on the gameβs servers and there is no way to touch it from outside. If you arrived looking for one, we explain in detail how they work on the inside and why they always end the same way.

How do you unlock gods now that Favor no longer works the way it used to?
In SMITE 2 unlocking runs on tokens: every account level you climb gives you one, redeemable for any god except the most recent. On top of that comes the free weekly rotation, which lets you try without spending anything, and the Legacy Gems of anyone who played the original, which also open characters. The result is that the roster widens by playing, without banking an intermediate currency.
What are Legacy Gems and how do you get them?
They are the acknowledgement of what you spent in the original SMITE: linking both accounts gives you one Legacy Gem for every Gem you spent there, both purchased and earned. They cover half the price of most SMITE 2 purchases, including skins and passes, and they also unlock gods. It is a one-off, free process, and it is worth doing before considering any real spending.
What distinguishes the SMITE economy from the Paladins one?
They share a studio and some concepts, but they diverge on the essentials. Paladins keeps the classic model: earnable Gold buying champions from a closed catalogue, since the game receives no new content. SMITE 2 removed the intermediate currency for gods and replaced it with level-linked tokens, a weekly rotation and Diamonds for logging in. One rewards saving; the other rewards simply continuing to level up.
Why is it worth focusing on a few gods to make the most of the rewards?
Because a good share of the free progression hangs off individual mastery: Diamonds for mastering characters and Ascension Passes both give more the deeper you go on one in particular. Spreading matches across fifteen different gods leaves every bar half-filled and completes no reward at all. Picking three or four covering different roles keeps flexibility in the draft and concentrates progress where it actually pays.
