Identity VHow to Get the Most Free Clues in Identity V
Identity V's Echoes are only obtained by topping up with real money. Clues, on the other hand, build up as you play and can buy any survivor or hunter in the game.
What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Clues in Identity V?
Identity V keeps its two main currencies clearly apart. Echoes are the paid currency: they are bought from the in-game Echo shop or the official top-up site and open up almost the whole Illusion Hall catalogue, including limited bundles and exclusive costumes. Clues are the free currency and every character, both survivors and hunters, can be bought with them. Costumes and accessories, with a few exceptions, stay out of their reach.
Every day
- One four-sided die per 1,000 Logic Points
Logic Points and dice on the Logic Path
The Logic Path is the main source of Clues. Playing matches grants Logic Points and every 1,000 points turn into a four-sided die that you roll on the board. Many squares hand out Clues, and others give Musical Notes, Inspirations, Memory Spheres or season essences. The path has 4,974 squares and resets at the start of each season, so it pays to roll your dice as you earn them rather than hoarding them until the end.
- Loose Clues just for opening the game
Daily login rewards
The login calendar hands out Clues among other items simply for opening the game each day. It is the smallest route of all, but it is also the only one that does not require playing a single match, so it is worth logging in even if you are not going to play a round. The amounts go up on special dates and during anniversaries, when the calendar is usually extended with special batches combining Clues with fragments and event items.
Every week
- A fixed batch of Clues at the end of the week
Weekly Morality Points rewards
Morality Points measure your behaviour in matches: you lose them for quitting, going idle or being reported by other players, and you recover them by playing normally. At the end of the week the game hands out Clue rewards according to the morality level you maintain. It is modest but reliable income and it works as an incentive to finish matches even when they are going badly. If your morality is low, bringing it back up before the weekly cut-off changes what you receive.
One time only
- Clues in one lump in the early levels
Account level-up rewards
As your account level rises the game hands out Clues among other items. It is income that runs out, because each level only pays once, but at the start it is decisive: it is what allows a new account to gather enough Clues to buy its first survivors and hunters without paying. It is worth checking the list of level rewards before spending, so you don't buy something with Clues that you were about to receive for free at the next level.
- Clues in your mailbox, for no effort
Compensation for maintenance and incidents
When the game goes through long maintenance, bugs or a delayed update, the team compensates the community by sending Clues to the account mailbox. It is not something you can plan for, but it is worth checking your in-game mail fairly often because those deliveries expire. These gifts are usually announced on the game's official accounts alongside the maintenance notice, so following them keeps you from losing rewards by letting the deadline pass.
Events only
- The biggest batches of Clues all year
Seasonal events and anniversaries
Identity V chains events throughout the year, with the June anniversary and the winter celebrations as the high points. These events hand out Clues for specific missions, minigames and event-token exchanges in their own shop. Since the volume is far higher than the daily trickle, it is worth saving your Clues as an anniversary approaches rather than spending them beforehand: essences and spheres from older seasons tend to be available precisely in those periods.
What does not work
No generator can add Clues to your Identity V account: the balance is handled on the game’s servers and there is no way to touch it from outside. If you arrived looking for one, we explain in detail how they work on the inside and why they always end the same way.

How do you get free Echoes in Identity V?
There is no way to earn them by playing. The game's own description states that Echoes are obtained by topping up, that is, buying them with real money from the in-game Echo shop or NetEase's official site. What does work in the other direction: Echoes can be exchanged for Clues, Inspiration or Sealing Wax, but never the reverse. Pages offering free Echoes are after your account credentials.
How many Clues does it take to unlock a character?
Every survivor and hunter is available for Clues, and the price depends on the character and on whether it is a recent release. The newest characters take a while to enter the catalogue purchasable with Clues, so anyone who wants to play them on day one needs Echoes. If you are not in a hurry, waiting a few weeks is usually enough to get them through the free route.
How do you build up more Logic Points in less time?
Logic Points come from matches, so what matters most is the number of rounds played rather than winning them. Since every 1,000 points equal one die, it pays to play in regular sessions instead of isolated marathons and to make use of the alternative modes while they are running. The path resets by season, so progress does not carry over from one to the next.
What is worth buying first with the Clues you save up?
Characters, because they are the only purchase that affects how you play and because furniture and items for your customised room can wait. Memory Spheres from previous seasons are also bought with Clues and are the route to recovering old costumes. Setting some aside before an anniversary usually works out better than spending it all as soon as it arrives, because events widen what is available to redeem.
