Modern WarshipsHow to Get the Most Free Dollars in Modern Warships
Modern Warships is one of the few games where the premium currency drops in battle itself. Gold does not arrive quickly, but it builds up from sinking ships, from missions and from the free battle pass.
What is the fastest and most efficient way to get Dollars in Modern Warships?
The game uses several currencies at once. Dollars are the main resource and pay for ships, equipment, consumables and upgrade points. Gold is the premium currency: it buys premium ships, exclusive equipment, customisation and upgraded consumables. Above those sit market artcoins and platinum, reserved for legendary tournament ships. What matters for a free account is that gold is not locked behind the paywall: it is obtained by sinking enemies, in the battle pass, in events and in containers.
Every day
- Gold per kill, on top of the dollars from the match
Sinking enemy ships in combat
This is the most direct route and the one that sets this game apart from most. Every enemy ship destroyed brings in gold alongside the usual dollars from the match, so playing aggressively and finishing off targets pays more than simply surviving. The income per match is small, but it is steady and does not depend on calendars or events. With short but daily sessions, your balance climbs on its own while you work through the ship tree.
- Five missions a day with dollars and pass points
Daily missions
Every day brings five different missions: destroy a number of ships, accumulate experience or play with a specific class. They hand over dollars and pass points, between ten and twenty per mission, and those points are what move the battle pass along. With a premium or VIP pass two extra missions are added per day for the rest of the season, but the free route covers the basic five. Rotating between ship classes is the easiest way to complete them without stretching out the session.
- Small amounts of gold, dollars and artcoins
Ads and containers
The game offers advertising videos in exchange for resources, and gold appears among them alongside dollars and artcoins. Containers work the same way: they drop a mix of currencies, pass points and equipment. Neither route changes a match on its own, but together they cover a good part of the daily trickle and require no play at all. It is worth claiming them before starting your session, so pass rewards land with the day's counter already open.
One time only
- Starter batch of gold and dollars for completing the courses
Naval Academy
The Naval Academy gathers the game's tutorial courses: handling each ship class, using weapons, aviation and the basic mechanics of combat. Completing them hands over gold and dollars in one go, and it is the first serious cushion a new account gets. Beyond the reward, it helps you understand why some classes perform better than others, which later translates into more kills per match and therefore more gold. It takes only a few sessions to finish.
Events only
- Gold, dollars, equipment and containers across the tiers
Free track of the battle pass
The pass advances by points: every thirty points accumulated unlocks a new reward tier, and the points come from daily missions, login rewards and opening containers. The free branch hands out gold, dollars and equipment across the season. It is by far the biggest source of resources for anyone not paying, and its only requirement is logging in most days so you do not lose points. When the season closes, anything unclaimed is lost.
- Gold in events and ranked coins based on performance
Seasonal events and ranked mode
With every update the game opens themed events with their own rewards, and gold regularly appears among them. In parallel, ranked mode hands over ranked coins in the first ten matches of the day, with the amount adjusted to your performance, plus season coins when the cycle closes depending on the rank you reached. Those coins are spent in their own shops on equipment and cosmetics, which frees up gold you would otherwise have to spend there.
What does not work
No generator can add Dollars to your Modern Warships account: the balance is handled on the game’s servers and there is no way to touch it from outside. If you arrived looking for one, we explain in detail how they work on the inside and why they always end the same way.

How do you earn gold faster in normal matches?
By hunting kills rather than spreading damage around. Gold arrives per enemy ship destroyed, so finishing off damaged targets pays far more than punishing several opponents without sinking any of them. Picking ships with good finishing power and using aviation to pick off isolated targets raises your kill count per match. Rotating classes also helps you close out the daily missions in the same session.
How much does the free battle pass track deliver over a season?
It depends on consistency. The pass advances every thirty points, and those points come mainly from the five daily missions, which give between ten and twenty each. Anyone who logs in most days gets through a good part of the free branch and accumulates gold, dollars and equipment; anyone who only plays at weekends falls short, because points are not recovered once the season closes.
What is the difference between gold, dollars and artcoins?
Dollars are the working currency: tech tree ships, equipment, consumables and upgrade points. Gold is the premium one and unlocks premium ships, exclusive equipment and customisation. Artcoins are the market currency and are obtained by selling equipment and ships there, as well as from ads and containers. Each has its own shop, so it pays not to spend gold on things another currency already covers.
Why is it worth finishing the Naval Academy before spending anything?
Because it hands over gold and dollars in one go and, more importantly, teaches you what each ship class does well. Buying an expensive ship without knowing whether its style suits you is the most common way to waste your starting balance. With the courses done you reach your first purchases knowing what you are looking for, and with a cushion that lets you wait for a genuinely useful option.
